Welcome

Welcome to Weyford Infant School and Nursery and to our website.  We really hope that you enjoy looking around and finding out more about us.  We appreciate that a website cannot fully capture the supportive, positive ethos of our school and so we hope that you will also give us an opportunity to show you around the school in person.  Please telephone the school office or email us via the contact page to make an appointment.  If you are already part of our school community, we hope that you find the website a useful way of keeping up to date with everything that is happening at Weyford; please let us know your views.

Weyford Infant School and Nursery is one of the very few schools in Hampshire with its own nursery which is  run and organised by a qualified teacher.  We know that nursery provision has an enormous impact on children’s future life chances and all our evidence indicates that the children who attend our nursery school go on to do very well.  We feel very privileged to be able to offer this resource and to give so many children such a good start in their school life.

Weyford Infant School and Nursery is a values driven school with the values of respect, nurture, aspiration and achievement underpinning everything we do.  We believe that children learn best when they are happy, well cared for and secure in themselves.  We work hard to build supportive relationships between all the adults and children to make sure that everybody enjoys their time in the school.  We expect all members of our school community to take age appropriate responsibility for their own actions and learning.  We have high expectations of everybody and provide the children with a wide range of challenging and engaging opportunities so that they can achieve at a high level.

As a school, we do not work in isolation and we value the partnership between school and home.  We support parents and children through a range of fun and educational opportunities and will always try and work with our families in any way that we can.  We believe that children are most successful when school and home work together. We also work in very close partnership with a range of pre-school providers and with the on-site Weyford Juniors;  the vast majority of our children transfer there at the end of year 2.  The two schools are currently undertaking a consultation to close the infant school and extend the age range of the junior school from 2years to 11years.  This would help provide an even more cohesive learning experience for the children we serve.  We see ourselves as a very important part of your child’s life and education and want to work with the other people in your child’s life to ensure that your child enjoys and develops well throughout the nursery/ infant years.  With the junior school, we share the vision of "Working Together for Excellence".

I am currently the Interim Executive Headteacher at both Weyford Infant School and Nursery and  at Weyford Junior School. I am very much enjoying getting to know the children and their families.  I am finding the school a very warm and welcoming place to be with the children at the heart of every decision made.  I am well supported by the administrative officer, Mrs Christine Leach, and by the deputy headteacher, Mrs Lynne Roadnight.  From September 2016 we have also created a new position of "Head of Teaching and Learning" which is being undertaken across both schools by Mrs Allison Jenkins.  We all look forward to welcoming you to our school and one of us will always be very happy to meet with you.
